After 20 years as a senior change manager with Global Responsibilities working for multinational corporations like KPMG, O2 or Telefónica; and being in charge of multicultural and multidisciplinary projects’ teams in more than 20 countries in all continents and 25 different business sectors, Leonardo Martins Dias created his own career path as a Strategic Sustainability Advisor. He builds action strategies for sustainability, implements the needed projects, builds the required interdisciplinary alliances and designs the narratives.

As a Strategic Sustainability Advisor, his primary purpose is the reduction of poverty, the first Sustainable Development Goal, and the enhancement of equality, in particular in places where it is most concentrated and acute: urban deprived areas (UDA) and its hard to reach communities. According to the United Nations, 1 billion UDA residents in 2011 will rise 100% to 2 billion by 2030.

Besides of working with senior professionals, he also works on the ground, sharing the struggle of the favela communities.

Currently, Leonardo’s main initiative to reduce poverty is Leadership Empowerment for Sustainability in world hard to reach communities through experiential learning programmes supported by the Development Bank of Latin America.

He holds a Degree in Business Administration from Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF) and Masters in Management and Marketing from ESADE Business School, where he also participated in sustainability and social projects management trainings. Leonardo is a LEAD International Fellow and advisor, an UN consultant organism, and trains programmes in sustainability in Brazil, Spain, UK, Belgium - and other UE countries - and Canada. Leonardo regularly publishes on sustainability issues.
