Hung V. Hoang is a lecturer of Ecology and Environmental Planning, Faculty of Urban and Regional Planning at Hanoi University of Architecture. A prize-winning architect, he received his Ph.D. in urban planning from the Graduate School of Global Environmental Studies at Kyoto University, Japan. His scholarly research focuses on urbanization, disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation. The recipient of study grants from Kyoto University, United Nations University and the Ford Foundation, he most recently received grants from the Ministry of Construction, Kyoto Foundation and DFID to conduct research on urban development policy, climate change - poverty nexus and the integration disaster risk reduction into socio-economic development planning in Vietnam. He has been a consultant for international donor agencies like UNDP, NDMP and the World Bank, and is a member of the Planner Association of Vietnam, Architect Association of Vietnam, and Technical Committee of Vietnam Green Building Council.
